Sierra House reports nearly 2,000 showers, 2,500 meals in 2025 and seven program graduates

Riverbank — Sierra House enterprise restart facilitator Julia Hernandez updated the City Council on services delivered in 2025 and outcomes for participants in the nonprofit’s restart program.
Hernandez said the Sierra House day center provided 1,968 showers and distributed 2,528 meals in 2025; the program served 63 new individuals last year, 58 of whom were experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The organization ran two male cohorts in 2025 and reported seven program graduates, six of whom secured employment and stable housing after completion.
Hernandez described individual outcomes — participants who earned GEDs, secured employment locally and out of state, or entered substance‑use treatment — and said partners including Kaiser Permanente and Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance helped provide food and veterinary services. "We believe we are stronger together," she said, and asked the council to continue support and to coordinate on donation needs and future graduation dates.
Councilmembers thanked Sierra House for the work and asked staff to provide information to the public about donation needs, and several councilmembers said they would like to attend graduations when dates are set.
