The Holbrook City Council voted June 10 to approve three memoranda of understanding with local organizations that the city says support tourism, senior services and business relations.
Council approved Resolution 26-12 authorizing an MOU with the Naval County Historical Society. The agreement was described as continuing support for preservation and visitor programs and includes $54,000 per year to support staff and operations. Mayor and council recognized Sher Reid, director of the historical society, in the chamber.
The council then approved Resolution 26-13 with the Holri Senior Center that provides $36,000 per year to support expanded programming and meal service; staff noted that beginning in September the center will move to two on-site meal days and two delivery meal days. Council member Black recorded an abstention on this vote.
Finally, Resolution 26-14 approved a $28,800-per-year MOU with the Holri Chamber of Commerce focused on business relations rather than tourism. Council discussed the reduced amount as reflecting the chamber’s current focus and then voted to approve the agreement.
Each MOU passed on a council vote; the senior center MOU recorded one abstention. The agreements formalize roles and funding levels for city support of local civic organizations and outline staff responsibilities for implementation.
