The Waukesha City Building & Grounds Committee voted to update parking restrictions near the former Blair School, approving removal of school-era parking rules and the installation of updated signage.
Darren, city engineering staff, explained the referral from Alderman Camacho: on Hyde Park Avenue the east side will be changed to no parking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, and the one-hour parking restriction on the west side would be removed so the west side would have no time limits. Darren confirmed there were no proposed changes to Milwaukee Avenue.
A committee member moved to approve the removals and the updated signs as presented; a second followed and the motion passed on a voice vote with ayes recorded (Rick, Payne, Matthews). Darren said many existing metal signs will be reused and estimated $130 per sign set for the work described.
Committee members asked about resident parking and staff confirmed off-street or existing parking supply would accommodate the changes. The committee directed staff to proceed with the posted sign changes and to coordinate sign reuse where feasible.
