Dennis Waterways Commission accepts minutes, hears May revenue report and sets Aug. 12 meeting

At the June 10 meeting the Dennis Waterways Commission approved the prior meeting’s minutes by voice vote and received administrative updates on revenue, dredging and navigational maintenance.

Connor presented the May revenue figures and told the commission that parking receipts were not yet posted but Joanne estimated about $9,800 for May; other revenue for the month was $23,943, bringing fiscal year 2026 year-to-date receipts to $1,800,567, which the office said surpassed FY25 totals.

Connor also reported that dredging work is pending sediment sampling for Swan River and decisions about Bass River dredging paths. A commission member raised a safety concern about a buoy that had shifted off the western edge of a channel; members said they would provide coordinates and follow up with the Coast Guard, which was identified as responsible for the Jetty Light’s maintenance.

Members discussed their summer schedule and agreed to forgo a July meeting and hold the next regular meeting on Aug. 12. Commission members also discussed preparations for the town’s October meeting, where parking-lot and ramp improvement funding may be considered; Connor said he would prepare talking points and data for the commission to review at the September meeting.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded near the meeting’s end; the transcript records interjections of "Hold on" during closing but shows the motion was put forward. No formal votes on regulations or capital funding were taken at the June 10 meeting.
