Martin County approves year-end budget amendments for CDBG fees, airport fuel and park trail planning

The Martin County Board of Commissioners on June 26 approved a package of year-end budget amendments to cover several county needs, including additional grant administration fees, emergency fuel purchases at the county airport and a small consulting allocation for potential park trail grant work.
Finance Director Cindy Ange told the board that Budget Amendments #41 and #42 would transfer $6,000 from the General Fund to the Program Grant Fund to cover increased administration costs related to The Wooten Company’s work on CDBG grants. The board adopted those amendments unanimously.
Ange said the county’s jet fuel supply at Martin County Airport was depleted on June 24, 2019; Budget Amendment #43 increases the airport line by $14,000 with a corresponding fund-balance appropriation to purchase additional fuel. Commissioner Ronnie Smith moved approval and Commissioner Elmo “Butch” Lilley seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved Budget Amendment #44, a $3,000 allocation from the General Fund to pay consulting services for a potential nature and horse trail at Kehukee Park. Manager David Bone told commissioners he had asked David Hodges to prepare and administer a PARTF grant application if pursued; the $3,000 would pay Hodges’ consultation. Commissioner Joe R. Ayers moved approval, Vice Chairman Dempsey Bond seconded, and the board approved the amendment unanimously.
As a procedural item, the board designated Vice Chairman Dempsey Bond, Jr. as Martin County’s voting delegate and Commissioner Ronnie Smith as alternate for the National Association of Counties’ 84th annual conference July 11–15, 2019 in Clark County, Nevada. The designation was approved by motion and recorded as unanimous.
With no further business, Vice Chairman Bond moved to adjourn at 7:06 p.m.; Commissioner Ronnie Smith seconded and the meeting concluded. The board’s next scheduled meeting was announced for July 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Boardroom.
