Architect describes Bountiful branch renovation; county hears timeline and water‑wise landscaping plans

Trent Smith of Modern Out West updated the Davis County Library Board on May 14 about the planned renovation of the Bountiful Branch Library, outlining accessibility and site changes and a target timeline for completion.
Smith said plans remove the existing one‑way driveway to create a more conventional access layout, expand parking, eliminate steps for an accessible entrance, add a drive‑through, and increase meeting spaces. On landscaping, he told the board the project will not require upsizing the sewer main and will rely on water‑wise plantings and drip irrigation to reduce the watering footprint. "Timelines are scary, but the plan is that in late summer to early fall of 2027 the library will be ready for stacks, chairs, and books," Smith said.
Board members asked operational questions. Justin Wright asked about the water footprint; Smith reiterated the design choices intended to limit sewer and irrigation impacts. The presentation included conceptual renderings of interior and exterior spaces, circulation desks and lounge areas, and multipurpose rooms. The board did not take a vote on the presentation; the update was informational in advance of construction procurement and scheduling.
