Davis County Library board ratifies boundary adjustment with Bountiful to expand parking at Bountiful branch

The Davis County Library Board on May 14 unanimously ratified a simple boundary adjustment with Bountiful City that will shift a common property boundary to provide more usable land for a parking lot serving the Bountiful Branch Library.

Joshua Johnson, Davis County Library director, and Trent Smith of Modern Out West described the change as an equivalent land swap with Bountiful City intended to increase parking and improve patron access. Officials said the adjustment removes a constraining one‑way driveway and creates space for expanded parking and an accessible entrance that will better serve patrons.

The boundary adjustment is documented by a record of survey and legal exhibits filed with the county (the board packet cites Utah Code §57‑1‑45.5 and §10‑20‑906). The agreement, executed April 29, 2026, includes legal descriptions of the parcels and a survey (Record of Survey file 8724). A notice of consent from Lloyd N. Cheney, Bountiful City public works director and designated land‑use authority, appears in the packet and was acknowledged May 11, 2026.

Rosalie Taylor moved to ratify the boundary adjustment; Aaron Becker seconded and the motion was carried unanimously. The board’s ratification allows Davis County and Bountiful to record the revised legal descriptions and proceed with project planning tied to the planned Bountiful renovation.

Next steps: project implementation will follow design and construction scheduling; the board also heard a related construction update from the library’s contractor team during the same meeting.
