The chair said preliminary figures on state aid varied in local reporting — she referenced amounts between $108,000 and $119,000 while adding that she would double-check the correct numbers before applying the revenue as credits against town or school budgets. She said roughly $80,000 came as ECS funding with supplemental Mohegan Pequot money also cited; she added that the Mohegan Pequot allocation in current language appeared to be written as a one‑year distribution and that the state’s future actions remained uncertain. "The money is expected to arrive October 1st," the chair said.
Separately, members discussed a bill that would have allowed municipalities to satisfy legal-notice publication requirements by posting notices online rather than purchasing newspaper ads. The chair noted that the bill died and warned that "if Killingworth News goes away, we're going to go back to the Hartford Current and sometimes the new— be a different source," meaning the town would still need to pay for publication in an available legal outlet.
No formal vote was taken; the board said staff will verify final figures and track whether the Mohegan Pequot funds become recurring.
