The Davis County Library Board on June 11 approved a package of routine items, including the May 14 meeting minutes, ratification of expenditures for February through April, ratification of a temporary commercial lease for a North Salt Lake location and a proposed staff-training closure on Friday, Aug. 7.
Director Josh Johnson opened the meeting and led roll call before presenting corrected expenditure statements that had been delayed while the county controller’s office completed reconciliations. Justin Wright moved to ratify the February–April expenditures; a second was recorded and the motion passed.
Johnson updated the board on the North Salt Lake temporary location: the board received keys, and staff now expect to open the site in mid to late August rather than the previously hoped-for July because equipment purchases, internet access and other set-up tasks remain. Johnson said rent for the temporary space will be charged to an off-site services/miscellaneous services budget line.
On staffing logistics, the board approved closing library locations on Friday, Aug. 7 to host an internal staff meeting and training; the plan is to reopen at 2 p.m. that day. The board also approved updated collection-appeals and administrative-review committees after board members reviewed a corrected version of the document circulated following the prior meeting.
Motions and outcomes (at meeting): - Approval of May 14 minutes — motion moved, seconded and approved. - Ratification of expenditures (Feb–Apr) — motion moved by Justin Wright, seconded and approved. - Ratification of North Salt Lake temporary lease — motion moved and seconded; approved. Director Johnson said the anticipated start is mid–late August. - Approval of staff closure for Aug. 7 — motion moved and seconded; approved.
The board recorded no public comments at the start of the meeting. Several approval votes were taken during the session and were passed without recorded opposition. The meeting adjourned after presentations and discussion about state certification and conference takeaways.
