Logan County Fiscal Court approves transfers, routine purchases and tables ambulance bids

Russellville, Ky. — The Logan County Fiscal Court on June 9 unanimously approved a slate of routine finance and procurement items, moved several interfund transfers and postponed decisions on ambulance service bids.
The court, presided over by Judge Phil Baker, acknowledged the Treasurer’s May 2026 Financial Statement listing balances for major funds (for example, General $761,459.49; Occupational Tax $3,856,659.74; Special Reserve $6,235,871.34) and approved a series of budget transfers and interfund moves. On motions and roll-call votes the court approved multiple line-item transfers and three transfers from the Occupational Net Profits Tax Fund: $50,000 and a retroactive $85,000 to the Jail Fund and $20,000 to the LGEA Fund.
Why it matters: the transfers shift available local revenue into operating funds such as the jail and LGEA (local government economic assistance), adjusting budget lines for the current fiscal year without changing tax rates. The court’s actions also authorized modest procurement and operational expenditures.
Key approvals and amounts: the court approved a quote of $18,538.68 to outfit a 2023 Dodge Charger Pursuit for the Sheriff’s Department; it approved the purchase of 18 radio frequency channel licenses for Russellville, Lewisburg, Auburn and Adairville from Communication International at a total cost of $10,144.00; and it approved a $250,000 public official bond renewal for Logan County Treasurer Amanda Stratton at a premium of $766.55. Officials also approved routine permits and inventory actions, including a 2026 waste hauler permit for Junk270 and several surplus transfers among departments.
Decisions deferred: the court voted to table consideration of the granular road salt bid received from Oakley Fertilizer Inc. and tabled the FY 2026–2027 ambulance service bids submitted at the June 2 special meeting (Comcare, Inc.; AMR; Ameripro Health). No contract award or final action on ambulance services was taken; the items were left for later consideration.
All motions reported in the minutes passed by roll call with all Justices recorded as voting yes. The meeting concluded with approval of surplus deletions and inventory transfers and adjourned at 10:44 A.M.
What’s next: items tabled by the court — including the ambulance bids and the road salt bid — will return to the court for further review or a future vote. The Treasurer’s financial reports and approved transfers will be reflected in the county’s ongoing accounting records.
