Pembroke Planning Board chair plans move; members urged to pursue training as experience departs

Chairman David Knupfer told the Planning Board on April 22 that he has listed his house for sale and expects to move to Florida; he said he is willing to remain as chair "for as long as he can, probably through May, June, and July but not beyond."
Zoning Officer James Wolbert told members that Knupfer's departure will remove more than 30 years of institutional experience from local land-use decisions and urged other board members to pursue additional training and due diligence. Wolbert noted that Knupfer uses a procedural checklist to ensure compliance with meeting rules and advised others to adopt similar practices.
During old-business discussion, alternate Elizabeth Gabbey raised questions carried forward from the December minutes about fire hydrant placement on the Visone Main Road site plan; Wolbert addressed those questions during the meeting. Board member Kyle Wruck reported he had researched commercial lighting ordinances in nearby towns, finding three that allow downward-only lighting and require replacement of existing upward-facing fixtures to comply; he said he will send his findings to staff for the board's consideration.
The board approved a motion to close the meeting on a voice vote and adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
