The Duxbury School Committee on June 10 approved Superintendent Dr. Klingaman's recommendation to appoint Erin Weisahan as assistant superintendent, pending contract negotiation.
Committee members and staff reviewed the search process used to identify finalists. Tony (staff lead on searches) described a multi-step screening process that began with 34 candidate packets, narrowed by certification and experience, and included structured interviews and finalist focus groups. "We ask the same questions of every candidate and keep the interview process consistent and equitable," Tony said during the briefing.
Dr. Klingaman summarized Weisahan's qualifications in a memo shared with the committee: building leadership experience at Chandler School, curriculum expertise, personnel evaluation experience, compliance and grant-writing familiarity, and advanced degrees in education leadership. After questions about the search-tallies and the transparency of scoring, committee members praised the thoroughness of the screening process while urging clearer presentation of ranking results in future searches.
The committee voted 5-0 to approve the appointment; the superintendent will complete contract negotiations and return the final agreement for execution.
