The Barrett Township Board of Supervisors approved a slate of routine business and took several administrative actions at its June 3 meeting, including authorizing advertisement of paving projects for Spruce Cabin Road and Oak Plane Road and accepting the resignation of a township employee.
The board first approved the May 27 meeting minutes and voted to accept bills and payroll reports that included general and special-fund charges. The treasurer reported fund balances including a general fund balance of $680,380.48 and a park and recreation balance of $54,916.36.
Supervisors accepted departmental reports by motion: an EMS report showing 59 calls in May and 210 year-to-date; a police report recording 107 calls in May (up from 59 in April); and a permit report for May listing seven zoning, six building and three septic permits. The police report led to discussion of a speed display sign on Oaklane that recorded 352 vehicles per day, an average speed of 20 mph and some vehicles clocked at 52 mph.
On capital projects, supervisors authorized advertising two paving projects; staff said bids will be advertised in the Pocono Record and posted on the township website, with sealed bids opened at a public meeting before the board considers award.
The board approved a set of community event requests, including several fireworks applications (Sky Tots, Buckill, Canidensus) contingent on a final signature from Grover, and granted use of a township room for a free pet vaccination clinic (SOS Pet Rescue) on July 11 contingent on a certificate of insurance and required paperwork.
Supervisors accepted the resignation of Deanna from DND Engineering and General Construction and asked that staff send a letter thanking her for her service. The meeting concluded after the board voted to change the township’s morning meeting time to 6:30 p.m. going forward and then adjourned.
The board took these actions by voice votes; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting record provided. The board also noted an FYI notice of violation from the conservation district related to a property inspection.
