During its meeting the Wolcott Village Board received reports on water and sewer operations, including a mechanical repair at the Mil Street Pump Station and a localized customer complaint about discolored water.
Ed told the board that staff pulled the Mil Street pump for inspection and found caked contacts that produced a false read and a cracked sight glass. After replacing the sight glass the pump returned to normal cycling, reducing run time from about 50 hours to roughly five hours. Staff said dry weather has reduced flows and increased the required bioxide dosage; another staff member (T) will adjust the dosing and confirm testing before finalizing settings.
Separately, a resident reported greenish, discolored water used in a pool. The affected connection appears to be on the Eastport line; neighboring properties reported clear water, suggesting the incident may be isolated. Staff plan to open a hydrant further down the line to bleed and test the section and will report findings. The village-wide meter installation is complete, but staff have not yet received access credentials or data and will follow up to obtain them.
Board members did not take formal votes on operational changes during the report but requested staff follow up on the hydrant test and meter access.
