Waverly council approves drainage contract, clears $1.2 million in claims and hears staff reports on parks, water and health

The Waverly council voted to award a contract for drainage improvements at North 1344th Street and Highway 6 to Midwest Excavating Services LLC and approved a related change order that moves the project completion date to Sept. 1.

Council approved the packet of claims for payment totaling $1,196,589.39; staff explained the amount was unusually large because it included tax-increment and bond payments. The body also approved the treasurer’s expense report and the consent agenda; most motions recorded in the meeting passed by a 3–0 vote.

Robin, representing public health, said calls were light last week (six) and described upcoming processing of personal-vehicle reimbursements and officer stipends; she added that three new public-health members are in training and that two of the new members live in Waverly.

Brooke said the Waverly Economic Development Committee approved a contract for an individual named Amanda through Dec. 31, elected officers and scheduled its next meeting for July 13; the CRA is set to meet June 15. The administrator said staff had reviewed new health-care policy options presented by the benefits manager and will open an enrollment period.
