Authority OKs resolution to apply for Vibrant Spaces grant for Pine Street Plaza

The RDA authorized staff to submit a Vibrant Spaces grant application (WED/EDC) with Downtown Green Bay and ISG for a Pine Street Plaza placemaking project that would add art, lighting, planters, speakers and cameras to activate the Washington & Pine intersection.
The Redevelopment Authority authorized staff to prepare and submit a Vibrant Spaces grant application in partnership with Downtown Green Bay, Inc. and ISG for a proposed Pine Street Plaza at the Washington and Pine intersection.
Rebecca described the project as a placemaking effort to activate the entrance to the city parking deck with public art, decorative lighting, custom streetscape elements, planters, a speaker system and cameras to enhance safety and pedestrian experience. "They're planning to put a speaker system in and cameras as well to help improve safety and really just enhance that pedestrian experience," she said.
Staff said the city must adopt a resolution authorizing the municipality to apply for the WED/EDC funding; the Authority approved forwarding the resolution to council by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will prepare the grant application and the municipal resolution for City Council consideration and submit materials for the Vibrant Spaces grant program.
