Platte County certifies mill levies and approves tax cancellations after GIS review

The Platte County Board of County Commissioners voted to certify the county’s mill levies and approved the cancellation and refund of taxes tied to a duplicate parcel identified by the county’s GIS office.
The County Assessor explained that a new tax district (108) was created for Glendo EMS to reflect its valuation and that adjustments in mill requests were minor in other areas. "We will have a new tax district this year, tax district 108," the assessor said, noting valuation figures.
Separately, the assessor reported discovery of a duplicate parcel that had been taxed in error; the parcel is owned by the Town of Wheatland. Commissioners approved cancellation of tax years 2020–2024 and refunds for 2020–2023; the assessor stated the total refund will be $238.98. The board approved the mill certification and the tax cancellations and refunds by voice votes.
Commissioners recorded the approvals in the meeting minutes and asked staff to proceed with necessary administrative steps to cancel the duplicate assessments and issue the refunds.
The board also addressed routine vouchers and other housekeeping items earlier in the meeting that were approved by voice vote.
