Pondera County commissioners approve surplus auction, purchases, contract renewals, appointments and transit commitment

During its February meetings the Board of Pondera County Commissioners approved a string of routine but substantive actions: declaration of surplus county property for online auction, multiple equipment and software purchases, contract renewals, an encroachment agreement, trustee appointments, and a modest transit funding commitment.
On Feb. 4 the board adopted Resolution #18 (2025/26) declaring a list of county vehicles and equipment (including a 1957 Cat D7 dozer, an Asphalt Zipper, multiple pickup trucks, an ambulance and a dump truck) as surplus and directing the items be sold via online public auction through Public Surplus Auctions. The board set advertisement dates in the Pioneer Press and scheduled the auction to run March 2–18.
The commission approved several purchases and contracts: a server refresh for the County Health Department for $13,655.99 and the purchase of 12 desktop computers and Microsoft Office, shipping and setup for $25,688.00 from Digital Image Systems; an overhead door for the Conrad Road/Bridge shop for $4,345.00; and two snowplow edges for $5,898.32. The board approved two related contract actions for GlobalSearch C2 Cloud Storage (Square 9): a renewal noted on Feb. 4 for $4,193.30 and a three-year renewal approved on Feb. 11 for $12,618.49 to replace the prior contract.
Other administrative actions included approving the January 2026 minutes; granting an encroachment agreement for Gary and Marcia Bryers for an approach and culvert on Sam George Road; declaring Bill Breding and Shawn Vermulm elected by acclamation to Rural Fire District trustee seats; and approving a $750 indigent burial claim. The board also approved an all-expenses-paid scholarship travel request allowing Health Department Coordinator Amy Shaw to attend the National Association of County and City Health Officials conference in Washington, D.C. from Feb. 23–26.
On Feb. 25 the board approved a $5,000 letter of commitment to the Northern Transit Interlocal for the upcoming fiscal year. The meetings concluded with the board approving claims totaling $592,472.34 and payroll totaling $372,069.96.
During public comment on Feb. 4, Nita Tomsheck with the Valier Area Development Corp proposed installing physical fitness clusters at the Lake Frances campground; Commissioner Thomas Kuka moved and the board approved that the Road Department lay gravel for the project.
