Pondera County commissioners voted unanimously on Feb. 25 to place a voted levy question on the June 2 ballot to fund capital and infrastructure needs for the county-owned hospital and long-term care building leased to Logan Health.
The resolution cites a prior hospital voted levy approved in 2014 that expired in tax year 2024. The board estimated that restarting the levy would generate approximately $253,000 annually (about 12.45 mills) beginning with tax year 2026 and authorized placing the question before voters for an eight-year period. The resolution includes sample fiscal impacts on homeowners: $9.36 per year on a $100,000 home, $28.09 on a $300,000 home and $64.31 on a $600,000 home.
Commissioner Thomas Kuka moved to adopt the resolution; Commissioner Zane Drishinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The resolution directs the Clerk & Recorder to coordinate language and submission to meet election deadlines. The board’s minutes stress the levy would be used for “needed imminent and future infrastructure and capital needs” at the county-owned building leased to Logan Health; the resolution does not list specific projects or dollar-by-dollar allocations.
