The Murray County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 accepted and approved a joint powers agreement with the City of Iona for enforcement and regulation of cannabis. The City of Iona had approved the agreement and submitted it for county acceptance.
The board also authorized the chair and County Administrator Carolyn McDonald to sign on behalf of the county and approved an update to Appendix ' Article 27 to add Iona to Sections 2702.2A and 2702.2B. The motion was made by Mark Carlson and seconded by Loy Woelber and passed.
The joint powers agreement extends the county's enforcement arrangements with townships and cities that previously entered into similar agreements; the minutes note that most townships agreed in December 2024 and June 2025 and that Iona's approval completes participation for the named units. The board did not record additional conditions or funding terms in the minutes; the county will execute the agreement and update the appendix as authorized.
