At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Murray County Board of Commissioners approved several personnel and program funding items, including a contribution to the regional library system and changes to county staffing and leave policy.
Elizabeth Hoffman, representing the Plum Creek Library System, asked the board to renew a $3,250 contribution for fiscal 2026; the board approved the county's contribution consistent with prior years.
On staffing, the board accepted the Building Committee's recommendation to contract recycling-container and pickup services and approved the layoff of Leslie Morin as Recycling Center Worker, effective Aug. 29, 2025. The board also approved a 90-day trial change to part-time status for Tessa Risacher, License Center Clerk, effective Sept. 1, 2025, which the minutes record will reduce annual wages by $20,275.84.
The board also approved an amendment to the Leave of Absence Policy to incorporate unpaid time off. The revised policy allows unpaid time off only for documented qualifying emergencies (serious illness, family emergencies or other unforeseen urgent situations) and establishes eligibility criteria and an application process; the amendment takes effect Sept. 1, 2025.
Motions on these items passed during the meeting; the minutes do not record extended debate on these personnel moves. The county will implement the policy update and effect staffing changes according to the effective dates recorded in the minutes.
