Commissioners approve final payments for Fairgrounds Cattleman Building and Lake Sarah Dam

Murray County commissioners on Aug. 19 approved multiple final payments and contract adjustments for county projects, including final payments for the Cattleman's Building at the fairgrounds and the Lake Sarah Dam project.
For the Cattleman's Building, the board approved a $14,300 final payment to Ankrum Cabinets & Construction (original contract $141,300) for construction work. The board also approved $2,102 in change orders to the concrete contract and a final payment of $24,174 to Huset Construction, Inc., contingent on receipt of the IC-134 contractor affidavit. Commissioner Loy Woelber disclosed a conflict and abstained from votes on the Cattleman's Building items; other commissioners voted aye in the recorded roll call for that item.
Separately, the board approved final retainage of $10,283.75 to Rupp Construction Company, Inc. for the Lake Sarah Dam project. Houston Engineering, the project engineer, reviewed and recommended approval. The Lake Sarah Dam work was funded by a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant; the county will request reimbursement once the payment is made.
The board also declared several vehicles and equipment as surplus and authorized their sale through MnBid or GovDeals, including a 2012 International tandem plow truck, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2013 Ford Expedition. Staff provided brief updates on Highway Building Phase II and the Lake Shetek Dike project during the same meeting.
