Connetquot trustees defer adoption of a new student check‑in platform, ask for tech advisory review

District technology staff told the board on June 11 that the high school’s current student check‑in system (Scholarship) has had integration and customer‑service problems. Administration presented a comparison quote from a competing vendor (Move) for a pared‑down package intended to match existing high‑school functionality. The two vendors’ basic quotes were presented as comparable for 2026‑27.

Technology director Elizabeth Weiss and others said Scholarship remains functional for a short period but that the district lacks strong vendor support; Move was offered as an alternative that appeared compatible with existing ID cards and kiosks. Trustees repeatedly expressed concern about the timeline — the district’s contract with Scholarship runs to July 1 — and pressed for site visits, review of feature sets, and outreach to neighboring districts that already use Move to understand how they use it in practice.

Administration recommended continuing Scholarship for the short term while directing the technology advisory committee to conduct site visits, review comparative features and pilot Move in a controlled way before broad deployment. Several trustees supported that approach, asking staff to report back with committee findings and recommendations for a pilot to start in 2027‑28 rather than rushing a fall‑term switch.
