Other approvals included: • An amendment (No. 6) to the city’s Great Lakes Water Authority water‑service contract; • Authorization to execute MDOT contract 26‑5252 for a median gateway sign on Marman Road north of I‑94; • Award of ITB25/26‑23 (DPW yard cleanup) to Pizzo Development Group LLC (not to exceed $10,500); • Piggyback purchase of a replacement Dell Data Domain unit from Zones Inc. ($48,800) under an Omnia Partners contract; • Piggyback purchase of one Type‑1 ambulance from McQueen Equipment LLC ($359,990) under a Sourcewell cooperative contract; and • Introduction and approval of several budget amendments, including municipal annex repairs and MIDC grant recognitions.
Council also approved Warrant 26‑11, covering multiple funds including water and sewer, motor vehicle and technology services, with the amounts read into the record during the meeting. The meeting concluded with resolutions honoring longtime Romulus public‑safety employees and an announcement by the mayor of a legal victory: a judge temporarily blocked plans to bring radioactive waste to a regional Van Buren site, a decision the mayor called "a big win" and one that the city plans to defend through the appeals process.
Council directed staff to finalize procurement paperwork, execute contracts as authorized and return to council as needed for follow‑up on the public‑safety headquarters financing and construction timetable.
