County approves small community projects and animal-care grants including ASPCA and Best Friends awards

Separately, community project requests presented by Mr. Lambert were approved by voice votes: $3,500 to the City of Greer for benches and a garden area serving Greer Relief; $5,981 for the Dicey Langston Heritage Garden phase in Travelers Rest (site work and statue setting; part of a larger ~$300,000 project) with a June 26 ceremony noted; $5,000 to Dream Preparatory Academy for technology upgrades; $2,116 for summer day-camp scholarships at Mount Pleasant and Stumptown Bridge; and $5,000 (half of a $10,000 project) to Clear Spring Fire & Rescue for hose-section replacement. Motions passed by voice votes as recorded in the transcript.
