Jacob Anderson, a Rockville resident and parent, urged the Town Council on June 10 to push for a dedicated bike path through Rockville as the regional La Verne–to–Zion bike project approaches the town.
"Our sidewalks aren't built for that," Anderson said, describing sidewalks as "narrow," "interrupted" and crossing open ditches. He said routing faster-moving bicyclists onto sidewalks could be "a moving hazard" for elderly pedestrians and children and described a desire for a separate path so teenagers could safely get to summer jobs and children could bike to the bus stop without standing on the SR‑9 shoulder.
Town staff said UDOT and regional partners have not yet completed outreach to Rockville and explained the project schedule: an environmental assessment (EA) is anticipated by the end of the year, with design work next year and the section from Rockville to Springdale planned after that. Staff and some council members suggested arranging a town meeting with UDOT/Greater Zion to solicit local input on routing and design.
The exchange did not yield a council vote or formal directive at the meeting, but staff said they will invite UDOT/Greater Zion to present and indicated the town is open to a town-hall-style conversation so residents can provide input ahead of design work.
