Council places visibility-easement ordinance on file for Dairy Queen property at 106 South Main

At the May 26 Pinckneyville City Council meeting Commissioner Kevin B. Hicks introduced Ordinance No. O-2026-05 and moved to place on file an Agreement Granting a Visibility Easement for property at 106 South Main Street from Pinckneyville Treats Inc., doing business as Dairy Queen.
City Attorney Don Bigham told the council the previous Dairy Queen owner had approached the city before selling the business and the new owner wishes to proceed with the visibility-easement agreement. Bigham said the easement arrangement is connected to an exchange that will require vacating the alley behind Dairy Queen; the council was told it will need to adopt a separate ordinance to vacate that alley at a future meeting after the visibility-easement agreement is signed.
Commissioner Hicks moved to place Ordinance O-2026-05 on file; Commissioner Sammy D. Peradotta seconded the motion. The motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
The placement-on-file is an introductory procedural step; the agreement and any alley-vacation ordinance will return to the council for formal adoption at a subsequent meeting. The council did not adopt an alley-vacation ordinance on May 26.
