Dickinson Township accepts low bids for Peach Glen Road and chip seal projects

The Dickinson Township Board unanimously approved awarding Contract #1 for the Peach Glen Road project to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company for $1,070,865 following a recommendation from Public Works Director Glenn Kelso. Kelso said the low bid was approximately $330,000 below an initial $1.4 million estimate and called the result “a significant savings.”
Following the Peach Glen approval the Board unanimously accepted a separate bid for Contract #2 (chip seal) from Russell Standard Corporation for $199,798.50.
Supervisor Jen DeGaetano moved both award motions and Vice Chairman Robert Line III seconded them; vote counts were unanimous among present supervisors. Residents asked whether Knouse Foods (a major local road user) would contribute; Kelso said he would check. Chairman Rob Kole and others explained that a real‑estate tax enacted to close an earlier $800,000 revenue shortfall remains necessary and that the bid savings do not automatically reduce the tax.
The Board gave a progress update: Kelso asked for patience during construction and said web updates will be posted as work proceeds. No contract amendments, funding reallocations or tax changes were approved at the meeting.
