Rothschild board approves Security Broad as 2025 employee health insurer with 8.04% increase

Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle presented a comparison of the village’s current plan with two alternatives. VanDeWalle said renewal under the existing United Health Care plan was significantly higher than alternatives and that Security Broad had previously worked well for the village. He told the board that all three plans would allow employees to keep their current providers.
VanDeWalle also described WPS Level Funded as adding network options (including Bellin and Advocate Aurora Health) but noted it includes a partial self-funding element with a $30,000 threshold, which carries additional risk compared with fully insured options. After discussion, Bill Schremp moved and Dan Mortensen seconded a motion to approve Security Broad for 2025; the motion carried 7-0.
The board recorded the approved premium change as an 8.04% increase. No individual employee-level changes or premium-sharing details were specified in the minutes.
