DDA hears parks and business updates; staff outlines Tassel Park progress and summer events

Dan, the township parks director, described recent programming growth: a pedestrian‑bridge dedication in May with a small reception, flower pots and window boxes installed at key intersections and an expanding summer concert series (next concert June 25). Dan said the parks department is building programming from the ground up and invited DDA businesses to participate in events, offering booth opportunities.
Business updates included one recent grand opening and an upcoming Ice Mash opening in mid–June; Caribou Coffee on 28th Street was noted as closed. During public comment, Sahil Patel, owner of the Red Roof Inn, introduced himself, said he had met with the sheriff's office and planned to participate in the Kent Safety Network when his camera access is available.
The meeting closed after a routine motion to adjourn.
