District celebrates staff awards, middle‑school state recognition and announces summer programs

The superintendent used the district highlights segment to recognize recent retirements and to announce staff and teacher awards. She named retirees and honored cafeteria, custodial and bus staff as well as teachers of the year at elementary, middle and high school levels. A slide correction for one staff surname (Peterson/Patterson) was noted for the record.
The superintendent said McCormick Middle School was recognized at the statehouse and praised by Senator Massie and Representative Daniel Gibson for academic performance; students visited the statehouse and received a celebratory day that included a zoo visit and boxed lunches. She thanked neighboring districts and Emerald High School for hosting the high‑school graduation at no cost while district facilities were unavailable.
Staff announced the summer meals program will run June 15–July 9 (drop‑off locations to be posted) and summer reading camp for rising third graders will begin June 15; district registration is scheduled for July 9, teachers return July 16 and students begin July 22.
The superintendent closed by thanking the board and community for support during a year of both challenges and gains.
