Work on the Westside practice gym advanced to concrete placement for the slab. The presenter described excavation, vapor barrier and rebar placement, and said a Texas crew poured concrete early in the morning and that a crane was later on site to set structural steel and begin blockwork.
Electrical upgrades at Berlin McKinley and Pineville Middle include panel replacements and conduit runs; staff said sequencing of the work will accommodate summer programs such as Energy Express by scheduling crews to move between buildings. The board was also updated that the Bailey'sville sewer plant (one of 18 bond projects) held a pre‑bid meeting with three contractors and that the initial plan aims for completion in December, pending permits and contract award.
Board members asked about sequencing, weather impacts and maintaining summer program access while crews work; staff said they are coordinating contractors and will continue progress meetings every two weeks. The presentation did not request immediate board action; staff recommended continued oversight and scheduled the next progress meeting for July 14 with project partners in attendance.
