Abilene commission approves Schilling Construction bids to repave North Walnut and Northwest 14th

The motion passed by roll‑call vote (5–0).
For Northwest 14th Street (Buckeye Avenue to Brady Street), Anderson said the route is a four‑lane truck route with a school crossing; Schilling’s low bid for the mill‑and‑overlay and striping package was $239,400. Commissioners asked a minor question about a typographical difference in area measurements in the bid packet; Anderson said he would follow up. The commission approved the Schilling bid for NW 14th by roll‑call vote (5–0).
Budget and next steps: Anderson said funding for North Walnut will come from project fund 025 and staff will pursue either in‑house or contracted options for concrete leveling if needed. Anderson also noted striping decisions will be revisited for North Walnut if state or federal traffic thresholds require it.
