KCO Constructors donates to Springdale industrial arts annex; Westwood Elementary construction update

Springdale School District leaders used their June 9 meeting to recognize KCO Constructors for material and in‑kind support for the district's Industrial Arts Annex and to give an update on Westwood Elementary construction.
Dr. Cleveland and staff said partnerships — cash, materials and services — have helped the district quickly outfit the industrial annex and provide career pathway opportunities for students. Facilities staff reported "a little over $260,000 worth of in‑kind donations" to the annex from partners and said those donations support shop equipment and program development. Tyson Rhymer of KCO Constructors told the board, "We like to give back to our communities. Like to give back to the kids."
Facilities staff also presented photos and described ongoing site work at Westwood Elementary: undercut excavation was shallower than projected (a potential cost savings), storm‑drain lines are being upsized and some city and state approvals and easements remain pending. Staff said weather has slowed exterior work but the construction schedule remains intact and final contract numbers were expected soon; the project manager said they anticipated a favorable budget number but would not release final figures until paperwork is signed.
Board members thanked community partners and project staff for their work; staff said they will return with finalized budget details once contracts are executed.
