Springdale elevates Shannon Tisher to superintendent and introduces new central‑office hires

Dr. Cleveland told the board that Dr. Smith is transitioning to the University of Arkansas; Dr. Smith later spoke to the board and said she will take a role as a "professor of practice" teaching educational leadership. The board introduced Shannon Tisher and elevated her to superintendent; Tisher told the board, "I am so blessed to be able to serve here in Springdale," and said she looks forward to "hitting the ground running on July 1."
The meeting also included introductions for Dr. Jennifer Barbarie, who described a career spanning classroom instruction and district leadership in Arkansas, and Amy Harrison, named the district's first K‑12 pathways director. Dr. Cleveland said the pathways director position is part of the Arkansas Success Ready Pathways Initiative to strengthen concurrent programming, CTE pathways and diploma distinctions; Harrison said she plans to be "in the schools as much as possible" while serving in the new role.
Board members thanked Dr. Smith for decades of service and highlighted the continuity they expect as Tisher and other leaders assume new responsibilities. The administration said transitions will continue over the summer and invited community members to submit questions during the regular July meeting cycle.
