The Westmont Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval of a major site plan for a daycare at 6120 South Cass (PCC 010-2026) on June 10. The petitioner, representing 814 CR/Encore, presented a revised layout that removes the front drive, reorients parking along the access road and places most parking and the dumpster behind the building.
Staff said the petitioner worked with engineering and the fire department to address earlier concerns about circulation and potential queuing on Cass Avenue. The staff presentation noted the front parking lot and circular drive were removed, the fire department raised no maneuvering concerns, and landscaping and rooftop mechanical screening were updated; staff asked that remaining landscaping label corrections and a few planting substitutions be handled as conditions carried to the Village Board.
No members of the public addressed the commission during the hearing on this item. Commissioners praised the petitioner for addressing previously raised issues; Commissioner Charleston said the applicant had “cleaned everything up,” and the chair called for a motion. The commission voted to recommend approval with the staff-recommended conditions.
The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Village Board, which holds final authority on the site plan and any ordinance adoption. Staff will notify the petitioner when the matter is scheduled for the Village Board docket.
