Porter County staff recommended awarding the Bridge 132 (County Road 200 West over a Salt Creek tributary, Liberty Township) contract to the apparent low, responsive bidder and the board approved the recommendation at Tuesday’s meeting.
The auditor’s office read six bids during the bid opening earlier in the meeting; following bid review staff recommended award to Dunit Bay Construction Company as the lowest responsible bidder. The board moved to approve the award and the motion carried by voice vote.
Highway staff said the current contract completion date is Sept. 7; staff attributed the schedule to a delay in bearing fabrication and said contractors have been asked to accelerate fabrication if earlier delivery becomes possible. Staff also noted local INDOT projects (US‑6 and Meridian Road) are expected to re‑open by the end of June.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract award paperwork and monitor fabrication and delivery schedules. The board did not record individual roll‑call vote tallies in the meeting minutes for this item; the motion passed by voice vote.
