Rebecca, who identified herself as working for York College, introduced the project and said the mural would be adhered to a rear cinder-block wall. Gabriel Sanchez Karpio described the design as composed to show local landmarks, saying the design aims “to like show important buildings around York City” and to showcase community and the city.
The presenters explained installation methods, including surface preparation such as power washing and the use of a high-resin acrylic medium and adhesive systems the team characterized as permanent and sustainable. Board members asked about wall preparation and materials; presenters said they would use an acrylic medium and might powerwash the wall but would not undertake invasive demolition.
A committee member moved to approve the application as submitted with the stipulation that the consultant confirm appropriate adhesion to the modern rear-facing cinder-block surface and installation methods; the motion carried unanimously. Staff and the consultant will confirm installation details and ensure required specifications are provided prior to final sign-off.
