At its April 1 meeting the Silver Spring Township Veterans Committee reviewed event planning and fundraising ahead of Memorial Day.
Committee members reported no response yet from the local ROTC or the Ahmadiyya women’s group about participation in the Memorial Day ceremony; member Martha Boyd said she will be unable to help. The committee also noted that essay-contest flyers were sent to schools in an effort to increase student participation.
On fundraising, the minutes say T-shirt sales have been discontinued while hat sales continue at $15 each. A golf tournament to raise funds is scheduled for June 20, 2026, at Carlisle Barracks; the minutes indicate other township committees may be involved. The committee scheduled an open house at the township building for May 6 and noted the next Veterans Day meeting will be held that day.
The committee’s financial report, submitted at the meeting, lists available funds of $25,081.09. The minutes do not record motions or votes on specific event budgets or vendor selections. The committee adjourned after the agenda was completed.
