CliftonLarsonAllen presented the City of Northglenn's annual comprehensive financial report for the year ended Dec. 31, 2025, on June 8, giving the city an unmodified (clean) opinion and reporting no material weaknesses in internal controls.
"We did have an unmodified or clean opinion and further we did not have any material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in your internal controls," auditor Paul Neater Mueller told council during the audit presentation. The audit highlighted a $365 million net position and a $10 million increase in net position for the year. The presentation also noted that the city did not cross the federal threshold requiring a single audit (below $1 million in federal expenditures).
Auditors reviewed fund balances and noted an unrestricted fund balance of roughly $21 million as of Dec. 31, 2025, and an unrestricted general fund balance at about 33 percent of total expenditures, meeting the city's reserve policy. Staff and council thanked the finance team for ongoing work preparing the financial statements and noted that some year‑to‑date budget variances are being managed through vacancy and expenditure controls.
City leaders said further details are available on the city's open‑data portal, and staff will continue to monitor sales and use tax trends and consumption patterns for water and utility funds.
