Randolph County Commission approves insurance renewal, boundary corrections and routine fiscal items

At its June 4 meeting the Commission ratified a pre-signed Census BAS boundary-corrections letter, approved the WVCorp insurance renewal for July 2026–July 2027, adopted multiple in-house and state budget revisions (including $30,000 for the Visitor Center), approved final settlements and fee adjustments, and authorized payment of bills.
The Randolph County Commission on June 4 approved a series of administrative and fiscal items, including an insurance renewal, boundary-corrections paperwork required for the U.S. Census Bureau, multiple budget revisions, and routine fee adjustments and payments.
Seth Pratt, GIS technician in the Randolph County Assessor's Office, reported that updated county boundary shapefiles were prepared and submitted for the U.S. Census Bureau Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). Commissioner David Kesling explained he signed and submitted the BAS letter before the meeting because the submission deadline required it; the Commission ratified Kesling's signature by unanimous vote.
Commissioners also approved the WVCorp renewal proposal for property/casualty and workers' compensation coverage effective July 1, 2026 to July 1, 2027; Commissioner Chris Siler moved to approve and the motion passed unanimously.
The Commission approved two final settlements (Louise D. Higgins and Helen P. Tacy) and several budget revisions: an in-house revision moving $1,500 into Sheriff's Office supplies; an in-house revision moving $1,000 into Sheriff's Office Task Force training; an in-house revision moving $17.57 into the Extension Office dues and subscriptions line; and a state budget revision adding $30,000 for Visitor Center contributions. Commissioner Kesling moved the state budget revision; Kesling and Siler voted yes and Commissioner See was absent.
The Commission also approved zoning correspondence for SBA Communications, three fire-fee adjustments, five EMS-fee adjustments, and authorized payment of the bills as submitted. Commissioner Chris Siler moved for many of these items; votes were recorded as unanimous where the transcript specifies "all yes." The meeting concluded with a motion by Siler to adjourn, which passed unanimously.
