County OEM/911 reports Montrose flooding and lightning damage to 911 equipment

Robert Daman of the Randolph County OEM/911 Center reported to the commission that heavy rain caused localized flooding in the Montrose area, leaving a few roads impassable and surrounding some homes, though the center did not receive major emergency calls during the event.
Daman said new batteries were installed in the UPS units and that technicians are expected to complete the control module replacement. He reported a lightning strike at the 911 building the night before that left the camera system down and produced a noticeable odor consistent with fried electronics. Daman said he contacted the company that installed the system and filed an incident report with Melinda in the Clerk’s Office and that he will keep the commission updated on repairs.
Rhett Dusenbury, representing Congressman Moore’s office, thanked the Clerk’s Office for help with the election and offered the congressman’s office as a resource should OEM/911 need federal assistance for storm-related recovery or equipment replacement.
The commission did not formalize any immediate expenditures during the meeting; Daman indicated vendors have been alerted and county staff are awaiting follow-up on the damaged control module.
