Youth fellows introduced; Freda unanimously approved as CSC youth representative

Rich City Rides introduced its second cohort of youth fellows at the Richmond Rising CSC meeting and the committee unanimously approved one fellow to serve a one-year term on the CSC.
Gabriella Zachary, TCC youth-fellow program manager, presented six fellows who each named the neighborhood they represent and identified projects they hope to support. Maria Rios, who represents the Iron Triangle, said she was most excited to work with the tree-planting project because "they improve our respiratory" health and provide neighborhood green space. Several fellows said they wanted to develop communication and public-speaking skills through the program.
The committee then nominated Freda as the youth representative to the CSC for a one-year term. Freda described volunteering experience with Lucas Park and said she wanted to help keep neighbors informed about new projects and address community concerns. The nomination was seconded by Mayelli and approved by a unanimous in-room vote.
Separately, the meeting included a demonstration workshop by the Allstars Project (presented by Larry Hu) that used improv exercises to build public-speaking and networking skills; organizers announced a July 31 workshop open to Richmond Rising partners.
Next steps: Freda will serve as the youth representative starting at the next CSC meeting; youth fellows will continue training and will be available for partner outreach at upcoming events.
