Enumclaw board names Dr. Mark Wenzel the district's next superintendent

The Enumclaw School District board announced at its May 18 regular meeting that Dr. Mark Wenzel has been selected as the district's next superintendent. Chair (speaker 1) said the choice followed a "multi‑month search" involving staff, students and the community and thanked those who participated in candidate forums and surveys.

Board leaders described a process that included a community forum, large public survey responses and two finalists who each spent a full day on campus meeting district leaders, students and community members. Chair said the board received “hundreds of responses” and that community comments were "invaluable" in directing the final decision.

Superintendent Jill Burns (speaker 9) thanked the board and specifically recognized student representatives who helped in the search, presenting a recognition to student representative Micaiah for two years of service to the district. Chair also expressed appreciation to staff member Stacy for coordinating long hours during the search.
