The Atascadero City Council on June 11 approved draft resolutions confirming annual assessments for multiple districts.
Administrative Services Director Jerry Rangal described three groups of assessment districts (Apple Valley, Dansza Estates and Los Lis/Woodridge). He told the council Apple Valley levies would remain unchanged from the prior year; Dansza Estates levies were largely held steady but reflected a modest increase for the landscape and lighting district due to prior use of fund balance; and Los Lis district levies incorporated a 3% CPI increase and staff warned that long‑term pavement rehabilitation (estimated at roughly $1 million) will require future homeowner funding decisions. Staff said annual notices and title disclosures are used to alert property owners to long‑term repair responsibilities.
Economic Development Manager Laura Capel presented the Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Area budget (about $14,000 expected revenue) and said merchants are organized and allocating funds across events, beautification and marketing; council discussed project timing and feasibility. ATBID chair Terry Banish presented the tourism assessment (FY 2026–27 revenues around $534,300; expenditures about $546,340 and an estimated fund balance of roughly $752,280) and noted the board has set aside an additional 0.5% of the assessment toward future zoo improvements.
All district and BID resolutions were approved by unanimous roll‑call votes.
