The Atascadero City Council on June 11 adopted a resolution to place annual fixed sewer service charges on the 2026–27 property tax roll following a public hearing.
Ryan Betts, the city’s public works analyst, told the council the charges are collected annually via the county tax roll and that the proposal would affect nearly 5,800 parcels and generate about $6.9 million in wastewater revenue. He noted the county charges a nominal $2 processing fee per levy and that staff requested the council consider the placement now to meet the county deadline (materials due July 20).
No members of the public spoke at the hearing. Council Member Peak moved approval and Council Member Funk seconded; the council approved the resolution on a unanimous roll‑call vote.
City staff said bills will be clearly marked on property tax statements as an Atascadero sewer service charge and that the city’s comparative rates remain within regional medians.
