Boyle County Fiscal Court authorizes $1 million reserve transfer to close on Walnut Street property (old post office)

Boyle County Fiscal Court on June 9 authorized a reserve transfer to fund closing on a new county property on Walnut Street, the former post office.
County Treasurer Shannon Green told the court the closing is scheduled for June 30 and requested a transfer of $1,000,000 from the county’s interest‑bearing reserves into the general fund to allow settlement. The court moved and approved the transfer and specifically authorized the judge to sign building and closing documents. Magistrates discussed intended uses for the facility, including sheriff‑department office space, a tax‑collection window and a dedicated office for animal control (which currently operates with limited office capacity). Staff noted property taxes will be prorated at closing.
The purchase will be funded from county reserves; the court did not indicate additional borrowing. The county said it will prepare a detailed plan for department fit‑out and return to the court with implementation steps and timelines.
