Worth County board certifies canvass, acknowledges post-election audit

The Worth County Board of Supervisors voted to certify the county canvass of the recent election after staff read and compared precinct tape totals with electronic records.

Chair opened the canvass process and staff systematically read precinct vote totals across numerous segments. After an extended verification that included attention to under-votes and tape-to-electronic matching, the board moved to approve a resolution to certify the canvass. Supervisors Smy, Stone and Lobert voted in favor on the roll call. The motion carried.

Board staff then presented the post-election audit report. The auditor and staff reported that the audit numbers matched the canvass totals. The board acknowledged the audit report by motion and voice vote.

The canvass covered multiple offices and precincts; staff noted several under-vote entries during readouts but said the tabulation matched the records. No discrepancies were reported during the meeting.

The certification is the formal step to complete county-level election results; staff will proceed with any statutory filings and recordkeeping required following certification.
