Measure V updates: district reallocates project savings, advances playgrounds and parking improvements

At the June 9 meeting Dan, the district’s executive director for facilities planning and construction, updated the board on Measure V project budgets and reallocated savings.

Dan said about $1.2 million in project savings and reduced scopes were moved first to program contingency and then reallocated, including roughly $860,000 to a district infrastructure project to cover building‑wide and room signage. He said the district deferred a district‑wide irrigation controller program in favor of higher‑priority potable water/plumbing work and directed $3.9 million toward phase two of playground replacements with an emphasis on more accessible features.

Dan described specific campus work: Parkway has remaining path‑of‑travel and acoustic treatment; Rolando Elementary will receive synthetic turf; Fletcher Hills is scheduled for a kindergarten playground replacement; and several sites will receive shade structures coordinated with solar projects. On Murdoch, schematic designs propose additional queuing, bypass lanes, increased parking, improved bus circulation and off‑site lane widening to separate entry and exit traffic. Dan said the LMA project also focuses on student safety and includes relocating a playground out of a drop‑off lane.

Board members thanked staff for progressing bond work and asked about stakeholder meetings; Dan said a meeting with Murdoch’s new principal was calendared for June 17. The board signaled continued emphasis on safety, accessibility and completing project closeouts before reallocating remaining contingency.

Next steps: staff will bring updates as projects move into construction and deliver final closeout numbers to the board.
