The Groton RTM unanimously approved acceptance of a $195,000 Long Island Sound Ecosystem grant to support design and engineering work addressing stormwater and drainage issues in the Fort Hill neighborhood.
Director John Reiner said the grant funds will support design and engineering efforts tied to the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development and the Climate Action Plan, and that the effort will be coordinated across resiliency, public works and planning departments. Reiner told members the grant requires no matching local funds.
Members asked whether the project would be coordinated with road paving to avoid digging up newly paved streets; Reiner said the town will attempt to coordinate paving schedules and stormwater work to minimize rework.
The motion to accept the grant was moved and seconded and carried unanimously.
